Sample Poetry

A is for Ari

excerpts from an illustrated anthology

B is for bloodflow

sometimes I wear a pad at night

with wings like the daughter of Styx bore

sometimes I wear a tampon during sex

tampon during sex?? balks the straight girl

sex on her period?? chimes the boy

do not worry! I had my cootie shot

circle circle      dot       dot

dot…

spillover drops of clots on black panties

decade fade stained ripped spot Gap bikinis

that my mother bought me years ago

this is how I hold my blood

a trap a net a sponge a hug

this is how I bleed each month

as the moon begins her swelling
